         Today we will learn 'How to Remove/Delete Shortcut Virus from your Windows. In this modern era, everything has become digital. If want to pay your school fees, want to book movie tickets, want to do any mobile or DTH recharge or whatever you want to do. Internet has become our helping partner. But there are many harmful viruses spreading daily to the internet. 

When it comes into any windows operating system, it starts to damage operating system or its files. It's necessary to make a backup of all your important data and documents files. Today we will learn one of the most annoying and harmful virus which can convert your data in shortcut even if your windows is turned off. It is known as Shortcut Virus. It changes the extension of your any file to .INK and hide your files. It replaces them with Shortcut so that the size of your file would become approx 1KB. Shortcut Virus is a common computer virus. Only you can access those data at that time or maybe not because some virus don't allow to see your file.

Method 1: Remove Shortcut Virus Using CMD(Command Prompt).

Note:- Be careful when using CMD. If you do not use CMD properly, it can result in serious damage to your operating system.

  Step1: Click on Start then type CMD.

  Step2: Right click on CMD and select Run as Administrator. (Sign in with your Administrator Account)

  Step3: Then type: attrib -h -r -s /s /d D:\*.* and press Enter. (Replace D: with your windows drive letter in which Shortcut Virus exist)

  Step4: Now type: del autorun.inf and then press Enter.

If you are still infected with some viruses then try to change autorun.inf with some other extensions such as .ink, .exe, .vbm and many more. 

If you are able to see your files again without any virus in your operating system it means the virus is removed successfully. 

Method 2: Remove Shortcut Virus Using Software.(UsbFix Recommended).

  Step1: Download and Install UsbFix(Recommended) from the below links. Or you may use any other Shortcut Virus removal tool.

  Step2: Open the installed software.

  Step3: Click on Run an Analysis. 

  Step4: Now select any of given options as per your choice.

  Step5: It will scan for any bad sectors or any Shortcut Virus in your selected drive.

  Step6: Done! It will give you a report about scanning.

Method 3: Remove/Delete Shortcut Virus from Registry Settings.

Step1: Press Win. button and type Run or Press Win.+R buttons.

Step2: Now type in the Run : Regedit

Step3: Now Regedit will open, It looks like the image below:

Step4: Now navigate to this place :HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Run.

Step5: Now look for any suspicious and strange file name. If you have trouble find anyone, then just check any file name from your registry into Google. If you find any known virus file type then just delete it. (Be careful before deleting any file, try to not delete Operating system file. It may damage your system).

Extra Note:- Open MSCONFIG just by typing it in Run Command. Navigate to Startup and disable every software except Anti-Virus and trusted apps. Now apply this setting and restart your PC/Laptop.
